Oil Pumps

We carry super nice Billet aluminum pumps for strokers or serious high performance engines which require external oiling, or we carry the good old Melling high volume pumps for factory type internal oiling setups. Don't forget to scroll down to the bottom of the page for attaching bolts as well.

Our new Billet External oiling pump is exactly what is needed for stroker setups and other serious external oiling applications. These feature American Made Melling high volume (extra tall) pump body and rotors, and a fully machined 6061 Aluminum body, which comes anodized for good looks and corrosion protection. All fluid seal points inside the pumps are joined by rubber o-rings, so there are no gaskets to blow out, which has been a problem with older designs of external pumps.

These are specifically designed to fit most B and E body cars with factory type K-members and engine mounts. The rear of the pump includes two ports for the oil inlet port, one on the rear (for most dragster and tube chassis applications,) and one on the side for factory engine mounting applications.

As you can see in the top picture, this pump allows any factory type filter to screw right on, just like a stock pump. We also carry another version (listed below) which allows you to use an external filter setup.

Don't forget a pickup also, we have swinging and fixed oil pickups available on our OIL PICKUPS page. And, we have windage trays which work great with these combinations on our WINDAGE TRAYS page.

Part No: 200-1102 - Billet Aluminum External Oil Pump - With External Filter - Price: $239.95

We also offer ARP black oxide bolt kits for our BILLET ALUMINUM EXTERNAL OIL PUMPS. These are for use ONLY with our Billet Aluminum External Oil Pumps, they will not work with regular Melling High Volume oil pumps, or with factory pumps. Because of the thickness of the aluminum plate on our billet pumps, they require a special length of bolt. We've researched the exact size needed, and sourced them in ARP's black oxide steel alloy, which are rated at a minimum 170,000 PSI... even stronger than a grade 8 bolt! They also feature a reduced diameter 3/8" drive 12pt head. Kit includes 4 bolts with matching black oxide washers. Small details like this can really make a car "show quality."

Part No: 129-1036 - Bolt Kit for Billet External Oil Pumps - ARP Black Oxide - Price: $19.95

Melling M-63HV High volume oil pump assembly. Completely brand new, assembled and ready to install. Currently, the only manufacturer of aftermarket oil pumps for the big block Chrysler is Melling Engine Parts. Melling has been in business since 1947, for over 6 decades. They currently manufacture over 3 million oil pumps every year. For most all applications, we recommend the high volume unit, M63HV. Melling is THE only source for stock replacement type cast iron pumps.

Part No: M63HV - Melling M-63HV High Volume Oil Pump - New. Price: $65.95

Our new adjustable oil pressure relief valve is a great accessory for your big block Mopar. This unit simply screws in and replaces the original plug which holds in the oil pressure relief plunger and spring. This plug is drilled and tapped in the center with an adjusting screw which can be screwed in or out as desired. The screw is surrounded by a special liquid tight o-ring seal to eliminate leaks, and held in place by a ny-lock nut & ARP washer.

Screwing the plug in will put more pressure on the relief spring and raise the oil pressure, while screwing the plug out will release the pressure on the spring, and cause the oil pressure to drop. You can use this to custom dial your oil pressure exactly where you like it, even while the engine is running! (Challenge your Chevy buddies to try that one!) Works great for offsetting pressure loss or gain from specific bearing clearances, certain oil viscosities, etc, etc. Works with ALL oil pumps including factory pumps, aftermarket Melling pumps and Racing style billet aluminum pumps.

Part No: 200-1093 - Adjustable Oil Pressure Regulator - Price: $19.95

Because the Melling High Volume pumps use taller rotors and a larger body, for proper thread depth engagement when bolting the pump to the block, they require slightly longer bolts than a standard pump would. We've researched the exact size needed, sourced the bolts in a high strength Grade 8 fully plated version, and packaged them into a neat kit complete with plated split washers, just like the factory used.

Part No: 109-1502 - High Strength Bolt Kit for High Volume Oil Pump - New. Price: $9.95

Our ARP polished stainless steel high volume oil pump bolt & washer kits are exactly what people mean when they say "show quality." These are for use ONLY with Melling High Volume oil pump, not standard. Because the Melling High Volume pumps use taller rotors and a larger body, for proper thread depth engagement when bolting the pump to the block, they require slightly longer bolts than a standard pump would. We've researched the exact size needed, and sourced them in ARP's proprietary "300" stainless steel alloy, which are rated at a minimum 170,000 PSI... which is even stronger than a grade 8 bolt! And, you can't beat the quality, shine and corrosion resistance of polished stainless. Nothing resists the ravages of weather, time and even repeated tightening and loosening like stainless. These are truly maintenance free! They also feature a reduced diameter 3/8" drive 12pt head for easy timing adjustments. Kit includes 4 bolts with matching polished stainless washers. Small details like this can really make a car "show quality."

Part No: 129-1022 - Bolt Kit for High Volume Oil Pump - ARP Stainless - Price: $19.95

We also offer ARP quality in a black oxide version of the high volume oil pump bolt & washer kits. These are for use ONLY with Melling High Volume oil pump, not standard. Because the Melling High Volume pumps use taller rotors and a larger body, for proper thread depth engagement when bolting the pump to the block, they require slightly longer bolts than a standard pump would. Part No: 129-1023 - Bolt Kit for High Volume Oil Pump - ARP Black Oxide - Price: $14.95

We offer oil pressure sending units. There were two different types used. This one is for cars which came from the factory with oil pressure gauges (not lights.) Use the other type (listed below) for cars which came with idiot lights.

Part No: 138-1017 - Oil Pressure Sending Unit - With Gauge - Price: $29.95

We offer oil pressure sending units. There were two different types used. This one is for cars which came from the factory with oil pressure "Idiot lights" (not gauges.) Use the other type (listed separately) for cars which came with factory gauges.

Part No: 138-1018 - Oil Pressure Sending Unit - With Light - Price: $12.95

Don't forget a new oil filter to go along with your new pump. Filter may include manufacturers logo and part number lettering (not shown in picture.) We got tired of having our new stroker engines ready to start, and then having to run back to the parts store (again) to get an oil filter,  so we decided to start offering them as a convenience. These are standard canister height of 5 1/2 inches.

Part No: 138-1004 - Oil Filter - Price: $7.95

We also offer these hard to find EXTRA CAPACITY Fram Wearguard oil filters. The canister height on these has been increased an extra 1 1/2 inches, to about 7 inches to make sure the oil pump has plenty of capacity. Other than a deep sump oil pan, this is the only way to increase the capacity of your oil system, and it's kept right at the supply side of the oil pump, just where it's needed most. A nice detail and an inexpensive way to get a little extra oil that most builders overlook. Don't forget to check to make sure you have clearance in the chassis for the extra length.

Part No: 138-1005 - Fram Extra Capacity Oil Filter - Price: $14.95

What is the actual difference between a standard and a High Volume oil pump?

As you can see above, for the high volume version of the big block Chrysler oil pump, Melling has increased the height of the rotor assembly so that the volume or "amount" of oil that is pumped is increased by approximately 25%. In order to fit the taller rotors, the case or pump body must be increased in height as well by the same amount. In the above picture, the stock versions of the rotor and pump body are shown on the left, and the taller versions are shown on the right. Because of the height increase, it is recommended to get bolts that are longer than the stock oil pump bolts so the thread depth engagement remains the same. We offer the longer bolts in a convenient prepackaged "bolt kit" shown above. The pump uses 3 "short" bolts and one "long" one. All use split lock washers from the factory.

For those wanting to keep the appearance of an original factory Chrysler oil pump, we offer original factory Chrysler oil pump cover plates. Shown above is the difference between a factory oil pump cover plate, and for comparison the aftermarket Melling version. While the differences aren't huge, they are noticeable for those doing a restoration, or those who want to keep things looking basically original. Our factory cover plate kit includes the factory cover plate shown on the right (with correct Chrysler casting # 2203260 ), as well as one of the factory style oil pressure relief valve caps, which threads into the left side of the cover plate. The aftermarket Melling relief valve cap uses a larger style hex head, while the factory style is either square drive or smaller 6 point hex head style. We have seen both styles used about equally, so the kit may include either one unless specified. These are meant to be used with our new Melling pumps. Just replace the cover plate (don't forget to use the spring and plunger from the new Melling pump) and you will have a brand new pump body/rotor assembly that looks nearly 100% factory.

Part No: 100-1068 - Oil pump cover plate w/ relief valve cap - Used. Price: $24.95
